The IUSA congratulates Adam Harris on winning a Social Entrepreneurs Ireland Elevator Award for the development of AsIAm.ie. Using a combination of practical supports and an online platform geared towards information sharing, AsIAm.ie is encouraging and promoting a society of inclusion surrounding autism in Ireland.
Commenting on the award, Harris said: “I was both delighted and honoured to be selected for an Elevate Award from Social Entrepreneurs Ireland, this award brings €20k in core funding and a wealth of amazing professional support to our organisation, we hope to harness these resources to reach as wide an audience as possible to talk about not just disability but ability and not just special needs but the need of society to educate itself about Autism and related conditions. Over the next year we hope to grow our work through our secondary schools programme, employer training and our online presence coordinating the information and supports around Autism all across Ireland. As we grow, the key challenge is to professionalise and recruit staff so we continue to seek support and financial assistance in this regard”
